Lyrical Christina Rossetti setting: suitable for Xmas or at other times.'Shifting tonalities and a placid magnetism which make it just gorgeous'. (Organists' Review)
I loved this setting of a poem by Christina Rossetti. It opens with a beguiling meoldy, in which the composer features haunting augmented fourths, and goes gently on it's way, often with almost static harmonies, before coming to a rest. It is a little more demanding that it first appears, but not so demanding.

Holy Innocents sets a text by Christina Rossetti (always a safe bet; is there anything by her that hasn't been set to music?) in a sort of extended ternary form with shifting tonalities (always musically justified by sometimes a little awkward in pragmatic terms) and a placid magnetism which makes it just gorgeous rhythmically there are no real demands until the coda.
