December 15th Ruth and Naomi had returned to Bethlehem, a major part in God’s plan, for in this town King David would be born and ultimately the Christ. Ruth followed her mother-in-law back to her home town and in doing so Ruth married a young man named Boaz, a direct descendant of Rahab. When she married Boaz she became the great grandmother of King David. The family line continued to Joseph (husband of Mary) ensuring that Joseph and Mary had to go to Bethlehem for the census, and therefore Jesus Christ was born there. (Micha 5:2) Ruth 2: 2- 5 One day Ruth, the Moabite foreigner, said to Naomi, "I'm going to work; I'm going out to glean among the sheaves, following after some harvester who will treat me kindly." Naomi said, "Go ahead, dear daughter." And so she set out. She went and started gleaning in a field, following in the wake of the harvesters. Eventually she ended up in the part of the field owned by Boaz, her father-in-law Elimelech's relative. A little later Boaz came out from Bethlehem, greeting his harvesters, "God be with you!" They replied, "And God bless you!" Boaz asked his young servant who was foreman over the farm hands, "Who is this young woman? Where did she come from?" God brought a great blessing through Naomi and Ruth and their tragedy. It teaches us that no matter what happens, even through tragedy don’t turn your back on God. To some the story of Ruth and Naomi is just a nice story, but in reality it is a series of events that are part of God’s preparation for the birth of the Christ and just as Ruth was not aware how her life would effects the future , so we are not aware how our lives will effect God’s plans in the future.
