Dealing with over-anxious parents. Sometimes children (and teachers) can be very inhibited by the presence of a parent in the room, when it is not possible for parents to wait elsewhere.
Children need to understand the importance of regular practice. This is often difficult, especially when the parents have never learned to play an instrument, and hence the need for disciplined practice on a daily basis has not been a part of their own experience.
Sometimes parents do not realise the importance of regular lessons and tend to cancel at very short notice - or none at all. They think that because their child is being taught by a youngster, these simple courtesies do not matter. THEY DO!
