I have tons of email about Harry Potter. I’ll never forget one email I had last year. A lady who thanked me for including some clean Harry Potter stories she could read to her kids without fear of content.
In general my stories use the characters from Harry Potter. I love reading the books and have done far too many times to remember. Many of my stories are based on Malfoy, nothing to do with the character so much as the appreciation of some excellent casting.

So how when the Bible condemns witchcraft, magic and all occult practises can I entertain Harry Potter.
To define Occult. Means "hidden" but mainly refers to all practices dealing with the illicit supernatural contact, such as satanic worship, psychic phenomena, communicating with the dead, witchcraft, ritual and black magic.
I don’t believe the characters in Harry Potter are the witches and wizards that practise occult works as the scripture condemns. The word witch or wizard as used in Harry Potter does not indicate a character that practises the occult as defined above. The word Magic can imply many things. I don’t believe that the magic used in Harry Potter is at all influenced by the occult.
I don’t believe that J K Rowling wrote Harry Potter or has ever suggested that Harry Potter should be emulated or desired to be copied. In the same way one does not want to follow Frodo into the Mines of Mordor or Hercules to meet Medusa.
I don’t believe that they are wicked stories, or that they are in anyway influenced by satanic forces. To the same extent they are not encouraging people to join covens any more than the Wizard of Oz is encouraging everyone to consult the great Oz before doing anything or Lord of the Rings is asking you to melt all unknown inscribed rings – just in case.
No where within the books do I find the Satanic Ritual one recognises with covens and the like. On the extreme any Harry Potter fan knows that if Hermione says something it is important and therefore listened to . In book 3 she states that crystal ball reading is not a precise subject
Merlin, Lord of the Rings, Wizard of Oz, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella or the Greek Myths is not as widely condemned as Harry Potter. Equally so they have wizards, good witches, bad witches, goblins, orcs, monsters, magic, spiritual references and implications. Good guys, bad guys a fight of good and evil.
The witches and wizards always run along side the pixies, elfs, goblins, giants, time turners, unicorns, magic wands, flying carpets, broomsticks and all that is fantasy. To be honest I am surprised we did not see any fairies in Harry Potter.
If you reject Harry Potter as a work of the devil incarnate then also must go Merlin, Arthur, Lord of the Rings, Cinderella, the Wizard of Oz, Sleeping Beauty, Hercules, Nursery Rhymes, Fantasia, George and the Dragon etc..
The Hogwarts witches and wizards are, in my translation, not the type that is condemned in the Bible.
Looking closely I can see
# a fight between what is good and what is evil. # a character crossing over sides from bad to good. # prophecies between sections to what is going to happen # a stereotypical Good wizard/ magic/ fairy of the Merlin, Gandalf type # a key character who knew not of the adventures his life would follow, of the Frodo type &--61656; # a task that is hard to complete but he alone can do it , like the ring # the worst evil you can get and his followers # a set of people (muggles) {like hobbits too} who can’t see past the end of their noses to the real world # Greek myths, English history, clever twists in the tale, strokes of genius, Latin, Arabic
I have compared the most popular books containing a wizard or witch and found a pattern.
Harry Potter Elder good guy :Dumbledore Blind to the world: Muggles Main character: Harry Potter Bad guy: Lord Voldemort Bad guys army: Death Eaters Good guys helpers: Order of the Phoenix Closest friends: Hermione and Ron
Following the same pattern I find the following
Lord of the Rings Gandalf, Hobbits, Frodo, sauron, orcs, Band that helped Frodo, Sam Gamgee
Sleeping Beauty Fairies, courtiers, sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, Trolls, Fairies, Fairies
Wizard of Oz The Good Witch of the North and Great Wizard of Oz; Occupants of Oz; Dorothy; Wicked Witch of the West; Monkeys (sort of ;-) ) ; Toto; Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow.
Cinderella Fairy Godmother; villagers; Cinderella; Step Mother; Ugly sisters; Mice; Buttons
I draw the line at comparisons to the Bible as Dumbledore = Jesus as this is not on!!! It is just a good story.
The keys characters follow the stereo-typical fiction path that they have for centuries. The basic format of Western ‘fairy stories’ is from the Bible anyway. Good always wins and the bad guys always are defeated.
I have a feeling that if JKR was promoting true witchcraft she is skilled enough to have set 6 books with 666 pages in each; not hard to do really.
The fact she choose 7 is interesting, not the number of God but a connection which brings me nicely to an interesting article. I am afraid to say not in the slightest bit spiritual but rather Chess and Harry Potter.
I have used the words .. I don't believe. I can only go off what I think or believe after consulting all angles and parties in question.
I have read a lot about Harry Potter from both sides.
I do not know anything other than this is MY VIEW after significant research.
Some Christians are against Harry, that is their choice. Some are cool with it, again their choice.
There is nothing one can do to convince one or the other. I'm not even going to try.
All I can say is as of book 5 I am happy it is just a fairy story, possibly even a game of chess, nothing sinister.
They sit happily next to my Bibles, The Wizard of Oz, Lord of the rings, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and all my other books.
