The name Ichthus comes from the Greek IXOYE which is an acronym for Iesous Christos, Theou Yios, Soter. Translated from the Greek IXOYE means "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour".

Music Exams are coming soon

Blue and Red Rosettes are my favourite Rosette Awards for this year’s exam students, young and old.

I am using ‘Highest Practical Exam Pass’ and the ‘Highest Theory Exam Pass’ for my top pupils this year in each marking bracket.

The Rosettes are displayed in my teaching area for all my pupils and their parents to see at the lesson.

When I use these Rosettes the targets are Highest Pass, Highest Merit and Highest Distinction marks. This way even those who can't achieve a distinction get a chance to be highest in their mark range.

For the highest mark in the pass bracket I use a budget rosette, the highest merit mark achieves a Deluxe Rosette and the highest distinction is an Elegant rosette.

My colours that I have chosen to use with my pupils for 2005 are, Red for 'Highest Practical Exam Pass' and Blue for 'Highest Theory Exam Pass' but you could use a different colour. I change the colour and style every year just in case the same person achieves the highest mark.

(Of course you could give everyone a rosette as they all achieved the highest mark that they could achieve, their personal best. ;) )

As I mark the test papers or run through the mock practical exam I give them guidance on how to a) achieve a good mark and b) put the 'polish' on to achieve the Rosette in their projected mark range.

The boys especially ask "What do I have to do to win that one?" It is a real incentive for them.

I was totally surprised that the adults were just as enthusiastic as the teenagers and children; needless to say that the girls are automatically enthusiastic about anything including ribbons.

The Rosettes are awarded at the very next lesson after the much anticipated results day.

My daughter uses the London College of Music where the marks sheet comes before the certificate and the Rosette Awards she uses makes everything so very exciting.

Let us know the response from your pupils and we will include it online with a picture of your 'awardees' and their marks.
