Profile: Retired, children flown the nest, I think!. Interests Many, but the longest by far is of railways, and specifically pre-grouping railways with the Midland Railway being always the favourite. The other railway interest is in early American, especially Colorado narrow gauge railways, with the Denver South Park & Pacific Rail Road being of the most interest.
Scale Drawings I have for years produced drawings, generally of coaches or occasionally wagons: both for interest and for magazines. Now when they are made it is for the Internet! Modelling
A couple of scales, 4mm scale EM Gauge; and the latest 15mm to the foot, called G or F scale for the garden. I am at present (2003) building a model of a Mason Bogie, which is intended to be one of a pair, both different. These are 'scratch-built' with parts from America generally but otherwise the materials are from the UK. I am a member of a worldwide website called www.myLargescale.com. This site has what an Australian architect who is a very good, garden railway locomotive builder; he is publishing a 'Masterclass' done in sections on published on the web. Previously I have built from scratch a 'guards van' to run with these locomotives. There will be an article on this on the website mentioned above. Trucks I am also interested in the building of 1/24th-scale trucks; from kits, but with additional work especially breakdown truck bodies. The American vehicles are generally preferred - they are both more impressive and colourful! Garden Railway Part of the track is laid but more is needed, that is supposed to be laid when the weather decides to be more amenable, the above locomotives are being built for this. Photos to follow in the summer.
