I have finished my shop, which is the first one I have built. I have added a couple of photos to this article; the next one(s) will be only a single story high I think, however I am rather taken with a two-story
firehouse.
This one is 18" wide 12" deep and 17" high. Quite large, and really a bit too big for the sheets of PVC that it has been made from: the stone foundation is the outward sign of that, being a added-on pieces to give me the height required. The roof has been covered with weathered 'cedar' shingles made from the thinnest roofing felt.
This is cut in 6" lengths, with a slot every 3/8th of an inch with the rest of the 1" depth being used to glue them onto the roof, using 'Door & Frame sealant', this available in cartridge gun form can be bought in brown and is paintable when dry.

This shop has quite a 'presence', and in the garden does not look too large, quite a change from inside when it looks very big! Because I am modelling in 1/20th scale, virtually all of the kits, which are quite expensive, at too small, they are generally to 1 to 22.5 scale (LGB sizes) or smaller, so it will be back to the workbench, and 'workmate' - it needs that to assemble it on.
I have recently bought some 5mm thick plastic corrugated board, it is the stuff the estate agents selling boards are made from, a sheet 5ft x 4ft cost me £7.50.
It is available in 3 thickness' 3mm, 5mm and 8mm; the fist and last are to my mind not suitable, you may have to search around for the middle thickness as I did. I am going to make the next building with this; it will allow 2 story buildings quite easily. There are slight lines across it (they are the lines of the flutes), and alas they are a bit too small so I may have to add some 'planks' to the exterior, I suspect that those will be cut from PVC sheet, cut in bulk, and glued on with Evo-stick.
