This is the removable bridge that has been made to go across the'stepped access'
to our garden. It is therefore totally removable, and fits into a couple of plastic housings screwed to the side walls.
The bridge is all softwood (red deal), and plastic for the nuts and bicycle spokes are used for the tie rods. The main weight bearing parts are hidden under the track - a couple of square aluminium tubes from B & Q.
Everything is covered with a couple of coats of Cuprinol preservative, which is where the colour has come from. The track is my normal Peco G45 track screwed down at the end of the sleepers. The central guard rail is a couple of yard pieces of rail glued on, and has plastic card ends fitted.
The bridge is removable and is fitted with some Hillman bridge clamps. The clamps are a new design with wide jaws that can continue the current path through the bridge, making this difficult task easy
The clamps are fixed to the non bridge rails, and the bridge drops into the wider milled part. Here there is a small screw fitted that grips the rails on the bridge. This allows the bridge to be removed at will. The system works very well, and has been in use for a while now.
