There will be some minor additions needed but it is basically correct at this point. The boiler is ready to be fixed in position for checking before painting. However a lot of additions are needed on the boiler first - they will be taken in design from the areas of the 'Masterclass' of the 1/24th scale Baldwin Mogul where needed That Masterclass was made in 2002. Chapter 6 is the main part needed an is both massive in size and content and provides most of the answers. Thanks to David Fletcher, for the most comprehensive and instructive chapter.
At this point I had the paint brushes out - here are some photos of the partially painted loco with an earlier version of the donor loco added for a size comparison - there is quite a difference in size!

The boiler fittings are just placed in position, as is the cab, they all have fixings but we are still at the building stage so they stay apart for now. The boiler is done with painted with the Humbrol Metalcote paint, reference number 270003 - polished steel; this seemed to mark fairly easily with sweat from my fingers so I added a coat of 'Future' floor finish to stabilize it. The metallic shine has been dulled very slightly, but is still there. A couple of side shots, the air pump is from the original Bachmann Annie, with the c.1900's filter removed and a new union added in its place (the little thing with a tapered top that faces towards the cab in the lower part of the pump). It has been 'cleaned up, and I added a brass makers plate to the outside of the lower portion. The pump is fixed to the boiler with the (hidden) pin at the rear, that goes through the centre of the vertical assembly that would hold the pump on the prototype, the size of this is 15mm wide and 20mm deep, I do not intend to describe it but say please have a look at Chapter 6 of the Baldwin mogul build Masterclass which described this very well with a set of photos of the whole air pump area. The pump itself has a pin at the back, drill a hole for this inside the straps that are the prototypes fixing frame. The water feed pipes are from various pieces of rod, and the globe valves are from plastic 'craft' spheres, as described earlier.
The tender has been built, and the trucks for it have been modified form the originals, and it is being painted at the moment. I have retained the original sound(?chuff?) system, in its place, with the volume control being moved slightly, but am quite prepared to junk it if I do not think it any good. There is a coal load top that is removable for access already built. Photo's and a description will come later.
The cab roof, which has been internally planked is loose, it will be fitted with a couple of pegs in the front, and 2 screws through the rear face of the cab - this is the style of fixings used on the Bachmann Spectrum loco's.
The slide valve chests above the cylinders are basically a box of plasticard, I have also made the lubricators and anti-vacumn valves as well, these were more complicated, they are a collection of bits of tube & discs of plasticard. The best way is to have a look at the photo, which is larger than life size. They can also be seen on the above photo's after these were taken they were carefully 'put away' in a safe place.
