I love it, I mean we couldn't do a native American Project without one.
So we bought
&--8226; 8 eight foot bamboo canes and
&--8226; A little green ring that you use to keep bean poles up.
&--8226; 2 dozen plastic second hand tent pegs
&--8226; Mum gave me a lot of material from her loft which we had from when I was little.
&--8226; And a reel of dressmakers tape.
After some deliberation we cut out 2 piece's of cloth 180cm down and 120cm wide then made it into a quarter circle at the bottom. this produced to semi circles.
Seamed them together and hemmed the bottom.
Next I added loops along the bottom and to pieces of tape to each side of the opening.
I cut a small circle into the top to fit around the poles and although not authentic in design (we'll do that in 1 or so years time) I was pleased with the nights work.
Tried it on the poles and with some minor adjustments we had our own tipi. A child hood dream come true.
Next we made outfits from a Butterick pattern, drums from plant pots etc.. and had a great summer.
