Music is so much part of heaven in the bible, and I feel that God is in the music in a very real way. If you are a musician, you have to love your instrument. If you are a Christian you have to love the Lord Jesus. You have to spend time playing your instrument every day, in fact the day doesn't feel right if you haven't made music. A Christian doesn't feel right if he hasn't spent time with Jesus. A musician needs to spend 30 minutes every day to be a good player, studying and playing music; and that is a minimum. A Christian needs to spend the same amount of time with the Lord, studying and praying. The parallel holds here, as the more time spent with the Lord, the more the Christian grows, just the same as the musician. If Jesus can be likened to the instrument, then God is surely the music. Jesus brings us into the presence of God as our instrument floods our life with music. I found the item below from a web-mail which fits in nicely with my thoughts.
LIVING WATER - TEXT VERSION An Outreach Publication of the church of Christ at Creekwood In Tune? Ted Malone, a radio show host, told of a Idaho shepherd who once wrote to him with an unusual request: "Will you, on your broadcast, strike the note 'A'? I'm a sheepherder way out here on a ranch, far away from a piano. The only comfort I have is my old violin. It's all out of tune. Would you strike 'A' so that I might get in tune?" Malone honored the request. Later he received a "thank you" note from the distant shepherd saying, "NOW... I'm in tune. "Similarly, SIN causes US to be "out of tune" with God. The scriptures teach us that "ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). In addition, SIN separates us from God (Isaiah 59:1-2), causes us to live our lives in "discord" and destines us for destruction (Matthew 7:13-14). Without the "right pitch" to provide the proper intonation for our hearts, many spend their lives struggling but unable to find the "KEY" to TRUE life and fulfilment (John 10:10). However, God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to make provision for us to be in tune with God. This provision required the substitutionary death of Jesus for our sins. When we place our faith in Jesus (Acts 16:31), repent of our sins (Acts 17:30-31) confess Jesus before men (Romans 10:9-10), and are baptised into Christ (Galatians 3:27), our sins are washed away by the blood of Christ (Acts 2:38; 22:16) and we are in tune with God. As we continue to walk in harmony with the will of God as revealed in His Word, the blood of Jesus keeps us in tune with God (1 John 1:7). Jesus struck the "perfect note" for our reconciliation with God as He hung on the cross for the sins of the world - a note that has "resonated" down through time unto our very OWN ears (1John 2:1-2) CAN YOU HEAR IT? Have you responded to Him with an obedient faith so that you can be brought back into harmony with Him? Are YOU "in tune" with God? God bless you. David A.
