Again the topic started from books. They came with Sonlight K basic program. When I first saw them I was excited about reading them. The children were riveted all through. I strongly recommend them.
Even more fascinating is that they are true.
Children's Dolphin Stories.
We encourage our children to create their own stories about all sort of topics that interest them. They 'dictate' the story and I act as secretary writing it down.
It is important to say that I do not modify the version of events, remind them of past events in the story or 'finish it off'. The only alterations that are made are grammatical or tense corrections. In doing this their language development has improved noticeably. This is their joint story about a dolphin.
Once upon a time there was a dolphin swimming, a submarine came so the dolphin swam away. The dolphin was looking for treasure with their mermaid friend called Sarah. Sarah's best friend was a princess mermaid called Sadie. They were all looking for treasure. The treasure was gold and silver plates. The treasure was in a box buried in the sand. The naughty men in the submarine came again so they had to go. They would try again another day.

Children's Dolphin Song
To the tune of 'Bobby Shaftoe went to Sea'.
Pretty Dolphins swim at sea
They are mammals just like me
Jump and splash, chase boats with glee
Happy, playful Dolphins.
Always smiling through the day
With their families they do play
Mummies, Daddies they all say
Happy, playful Dolphins
