Never play your Saxophone sitting down as this restricts your air supply.
Always stand up straight in a comfortable position with your knees slightly bent.
Always look straight ahead.
Try to keep your feet slightly apart (this allows you to breathe more freely), giving yourself a firm grounding on which to stand. The weight of your Saxophone should be evenly distributed over your feet.
Holding your Saxophone
This is essential for a solid technique. Your Saxophone should be balanced with your thumbs. Your left thumb should be pushing forwards and your right hand thumb should be countering the force equally pushing away from your body (forwards).
Never be tense when playing. Try to relax as much as possible.
Curl your fingers around your Saxophone in a natural way.
Let the Saxophone come to you, Not the other way around.
Adjust the height of your sling accordingly. Remember you should be looking straight ahead of you, standing up straight. Rest your thumbs on their rests without applying excessive force and tension.
