I have just re-discovered. It appears to be as relevant today as it was then. R.A. Torrey, in his book 'The power of prayer.' says "Why is it," many a minister is asking, "that I see so little fruit from my ministry? Why are there so few conversions? Why does my Church grow so slowly? Why are the members of my church so little helped by my ministry, and built up so little in Christian knowledge and life? " And again God replies: "Neglect of prayer. You have not, because you ask not." My prayer is that this prayer can help and encourage your support of your church and minister. We can picture Christ entering and walking down the aisles with his hands spread forth in blessing and healing. We can picture the light of the Holy Spirit enlightening every mind in the Church and the love of Christ touching every heart. Pray for individuals in need to be made loving by His love. I pray for the light of the Holy Spirit to enlighten those who are in unbelief and darkness. Prayer for the Church
This could be said at home or in silent prayer in the Church before the service. I pray for the power of the Spirit of Christ to fill the Church. I pray that God will fill the Church with His power and the love of Christ and the light of the Holy Spirit. I pray for the Lord Jesus Christ to be present and to heal. I pray for the vicar (minister) that as he enters the building, God may fill him with power and with grace and with the love of Christ. I pray that God will accomplish His perfect will in the vicar (minister). I pray for healing during the service. We can picture Christ standing behind the vicar (minister) and speaking through him. |
