An interesting parallel for pupils to consider.
I tell my pupils that the memory works just like weight lifter&--8217;s muscles.
Think of a normal person trying to lift heavy weights. They would say, &--8216;I can&--8217;t.&--8217;
After continuos, regular training, their muscles would start to develop and they would be able to lift heavier weights, and eventually even heavier weights.
The musical memory works in the same way.
A normal person cannot learn very much from memory, the same as lifting weights, but with regular training, the memory becomes very strong.
More and more difficult things can be learnt, and eventually very &--8216;heavy weight&--8217; works can be learnt.
