Guitars designed for smaller individuals come in three sizes: 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4. The size is suitable for which child depends on the length or arm and body size of the child playing the instrument.
> A 1/4 size guitar for guitarists ages 4 to 6 and between 3 feet 3 inches and 3 feet 9 inches tall.
> A 1/2 size for 5- to 8-year-olds between 3 feet 10 inches to 4 feet 5 inches tall.
> A 3/4 size for ages 8 to 11 with a height between 4 feet 6 inches to 4 feet 11 inch.
