A supplement containing the Order of Mass, the Eucharistic sections revised in accordance with the 2010 English translation of the Roman Missal, and some replacement hymns.
This supplement contains all the pieces which have been changed in Laudate. It will be incorporated into reprints of the full hymnbook.
Mass Settings new and revised The Mass parts have been revised in accordance with the 2010 Missal translation. This has been done with as little disturbance to the numbering system as possible, which has meant using duplicated numbers (554a, b, c. etc.) as there is a requirement to provide settings of all three acclamations ('Christ has died' is no longer an official text.) Most of the settings in Laudate have been revised, but there are four new complete settings (The Parish Mass (Jones), the New Celtic Liturgy (Walker - previously only the Eucharistic Acclamations), the Pershore Mass (Alan Smith) and the Storrington Mass (Marty Haugen.) In addition, the Order of Mass contains the simple chant setting from the Missal.
Of the Mass parts which could not be revised, some have been reassigned to other sections, as Communion processional or devotional songs (existing nos 487, 593 and 594) or General Praise (nos 528 and 532).
Replacement items The opportunity has been taken to replace almost twenty pieces. In all but one case these items have disappeared from the book. The decision in each case was to replace what was judged to be a lesser-used piece by a more useful one in the same category, to reflect what has appeared in the twelve years since Laudate was published.
Two sets of numbers? Where the supplement is used alongside the main hymnal, numbers on hymnboards could have a letter 'S' added to avoid confusion.
